Car and plane show among events scheduled today
ELKINS — Multiple car shows will be offered throughout Randolph County today, including one that also features airplanes.
The Elkins-Randolph County Regional Airport will be hosting its Airplane & Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
Admission to the event is free and will feature a 50-50 drawing, a raffle and a food truck. The event is sponsored by EAA Chapter 1530.
Additionally, the Beverly United Methodist Church will be hosting its ninth annual car show in conjunction with the Beverly Fireman’s Festival today.
The show will be held in the church’s parking lot beside Beverly Elementary School from 8 to 11 a.m. As part of the car show, BUMC will be having a food sale featuring biscuits and gravy, freshly-baked donuts and various beverage options. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the church.
After the car show, a Chicken BBQ Dinner will be offered at the BVFD fire house at 11 a.m., and a parade will proceed down Main Street in Beverly at noon. The Fireman’s Water Battle will be at 1:30 p.m. at the fire house.
The Beverly Fireman’s Festival also will feature a new event this afternoon. Starting at 4 p.m., a lumberjack contest will be held at the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department featuring classic events. Interested participants may register at the firehouse today.
