WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The Augusta Heritage Center’s weekly Jam Sessions take place every Wednesday in the Augusta Music & Dance Hall, 303 Davis Ave., Elkins. Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and Old-Time Jams are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. For more information, call 304-642-2369.

FREE MONTHLY TREE TALKS: at the Kump Education Center. The lectures are sponsored by the Elkins Tres Board and KEC. Topics are: 2/26, “Changing Bird Song in the Appalachian Forests” by Katie Garst, WV Division of Natural Resources; 3/26, “Returning the American Chestnut to Our Forests” by Mark Double, WV Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation; 4/23, “Stress, Strain and Trees; An Introduction to Tree Mechanics” by Ken Beezley, D&E. WINTER WALK: at Glendale Park, Elkins Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. Meet at the first pavilion. Sponsored by the Elkins Tree Board, this annual event features winter tree identification tips and winter birding. Free. For possible weather changes, visit the Elkins Friends of Trees FB page.

SPAGHETTI DINNER: at the Whitmer Community Church, formerly the Whitmer Methodist Church, will be Saturday, March 1 from noon to 5 p.m., to benefit the youth for upcoming Bible School. Menu includes: spaghetti, homemade sauce, green beans, slaw, bread and dessert. There is a cost for the meal. Eat-in or carry out available. For more information call 304-227-4798.

WEEKEND GALLERY DOCENTS: Members of the Mountain Weavers Guild will be in the Great Hall at the Arts Center docenting the Interwoven Exhibit, which includes works from members of the MWG on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Entry is free, and all are welcome.

COUNTRY STORE: The First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave., in Elkins, will host a Country store featuring a name-your-own-price sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 7, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. Scout Troop 88 will have a hot dog sale on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the United Methodist Men will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo, Dulcimer, Bass are welcome. Participants enter through the back door. For more information, contact dp-foot@hotmail.com.

AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY DINER: The H. W. Daniels Post 29, The American Legion will host its 106th Birthday Dinner on Saturday, March 15, with the social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a program/dinner at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will beDonald Lambert. The menu will consist of ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Tickets available at the Post Home & Clubroom at 326 Railroad Avenue. BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a free Brown Bag Concert Wednesday, March 19, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Great Hall. Jason Hall is set to perform. “With warm raspy vocals, Jason delivers an intimate, down-to-earth sound that resonates with audiences of all kinds.”
