ELKINS — Senior Vice President of Davis Health System and Chief Administrative Officer of Davis Medical Center (DMC) Ronald Andro, and Chief Nursing Officer of Davis Medical Center and Davis Health System Diana Landsverk, recently addressed the Elkins Rotary Club.

Andro has over 25 years of experience in hospital operations and executive leadership across various health systems. Prior to joining Vandalia Health, he served as senior vice president and chief clinical operations officer for the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, and as president and CEO of West Penn Hospital and chief operating officer of Allegheny General Hospital both in Pittsburgh, part of Allegheny Health Network, among many other leadership roles throughout his career nationally.

Landsverk holds an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Bluefield State University in Bluefield; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC; and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Gardner-Webb University in Shelby, NC. She is an active member of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

In Jan. 2024, Davis Health System officially became part of Vandalia Health System, a West Virginia network comprised of 17 hospitals, three hospital affiliates and more than 220 outpatient locations. Soon, said Andro, Davis Health System will undergo a rebrand to reflect its place within Vandalia Health. “The community will begin seeing the Vandalia Health brand infused visually through elements like signage. We are also sharing our newly defined mission, vision and core values, which capture what Vandalia Health has become during the last 2 years and reflect what we strive to be every day to every patient in our communities,” said Andro. “Our identity as the region’s legacy healthcare provider is strengthened as part of Vandalia Health,” Andro said. “We will strive to have a positive influence on our patients, employees and communities.”

Andro also shared with Rotarians the new medical services that will enhance patient care in local communities. “The addition of the state-of-the-art Cardiac Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) represents a major step forward in our ability to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions with speed and precision,” Andro said. “Vandalia Health is expanding telemedicine care across the state,” Andro added. “This brings access to critical and very specialized care in neurology and cardiology to patients in locations more convenient to where they reside and work.”

The health system is currently focused on enhancing acute, intensive and psychiatric care, as well as the recruitment and retention of high-quality staff and physicians. “The growth we’ve seen in emergency care, oncology, vascular services, and acute services shows how the community has leaned in and put faith in their local community hospital,” Andro said.

Landsverk joined Vandalia Health Davis Health System in Dec. 2024 and brings extensive expertise in clinical and operational leadership. Landsverk emphasized putting quality and patient care first. “Our goal is to provide the highest quality of care we can give to a patient,” said Landsverk. “We use each patient experience as an opportunity to improve our delivery from the time they arrive to when they go home.”

Andro concluded his presentation by encouraging members of the community to provide feedback to him and his team. “This community is blessed with access to outstanding health care,” Andro said. “Together, we will expand these resources so that patients do not have to travel for specialized care.”
