REVIVAL: The Crystal Springs Community Church will be having a revival today through Sunday, June 15 at 6 p.m. with services run by Bobby Lambert. There will be a dinner on June 15 as well.
SQUARE DANCE: Randolph County Dems are sponsoring a square dance, “Dancin’ for Democracy” today from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the Roosevelt Room located at the Wyndam Hotel on Randolph Avenue, Elkins. Caller will be Mary Alice Milnes and music will be provided by Gerry Milnes, Jesse Milnes, and Mike Miller. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 304-641-0751.
OPENING RECEPTION: The Arts Center will be celebrating the opening of their two latest art exhibitions, “Recomposition” and “Clay is a Canvas” on Friday, June 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free for all. The “Recomposition” exhibit will be located in the Center’s Great Hall Gallery, while the “Clay is a Canvas” exhibit will be located in the Center’s Maxwell Gallery. Both exhibitions will remain on display from June 13 to July 31.
INSIDE YARD SALE/BAKE SALE: The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will host an inside yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.
FARMERS MARKET: The Elkins Farmers Market, located behind the Railroad Depot, is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Lots of parking is available behind the Summit Church buildings. We have a large variety of vegetables of the season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and many more items.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: The Whitmer Community Church will host the ‘Keepers of the Kingdom’ vacation bible school from 6-8:15 p.m. June 16-20.
BROWN BAG CONCERT: This month’s free Brown Bag Concert will take place June 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at The Arts Center. The concert will feature the Ginsangers. Founded by Connie Townsend and Dave Park around 20 years ago, the Ginsangers have received national awards and recognition, appearing on Mountain Stage, at Merlefest and at venues ranging from Maine to Louisiana. Their musical stylings are a mix of blues, classic country, gospel and Americana. Bring your friends, pack your lunch and meet in the Great Hall at The Arts Center.
WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The weekly Wednesday jam sessions, sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center, are taking place next-door to Augusta, at Armadillo Flats, on Davis Avenue in Elkins. Open to pickers and singers of all levels, the Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and Old Time Jams follow, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Look for entry signage at Armadillo Flats, or enter from C.J. INDOOR YARD SALE AND BAKE SALE: The Elkins Christian Academy will host an indoor yard sale and bake sale June 20 and 21 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Elkins Christian Academy Gym.
CHARITY CAKEWALKS: Below are the dates and benefiting organizations for Citizens Promoting Community’s cakewalks in Elkins in 2025: June 20 – Citizens Promoting Community (to benefit the July 4th parade); July 18 – Elkins Babe Ruth; Aug. 1 – Elkins Area Band Auxiliary; and Aug. 15 – Tyrand Ministries.
HUNGER WALK AND BLOCK PARTY: Tyrand Ministries will host a hunger walk and block party fundraiser to increase awareness of hunger here in our own community Saturday, June 21. The Hunger Walk will start and end at First United Methodist Church on Kerens Avenue in Elkins. This family friendly event starts at 10 a.m. and goes from the church out the Allegheny Highlands Trail. Participants can walk or bike and go as far or a short as they want. Afterwards, at noon, the block party at the church will feature live music, food, games and a dunk tank. MEAT SHOOT: VFW Post 5781 will host a meat shoot on June 21 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the post home in Harman. Refreshments will be provided. The next shoot is scheduled for July 19. For information, contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349.
OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. POE REUNION: The reunion of the descendants of Tom and Minnie Koon Poe will be on July 12 at the large pavilion at Elkins City Park. Lunch will be served at noon. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and one item for the auction. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and chances on a goodie basket. All family and friends are welcome.
McCRUM/KETTERMAN REUNION: The McCrum/Ketterman family reunion will be July 19, at Mill Race Park in Parsons, Pavilion No. 1, at noon. KFC chicken and hotdogs will be provided. Please bring your favorite covered dish. Any questions, call Jeanette Bishoff at 304-478-2212.
