CHENOWETH REUNION: The 111th Chenoweth Reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Chenoweth Shelter located on Chenoweth Creek Road. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with lunch served at noon. Please bring a covered dish and item for the raffle. Plates and Cutlery will be provided.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The First United United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St., Buckhannon, will host a pancake breakfast 8 a.m. to noon on Aug. 30. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and a toppings bar including strawberries. Gluten free option available. All proceeds go to Buckhannon Community Band.

FARMERS MARKET: The Elkins Farmers Market, located behind the Railroad Depot, is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Lots of parking is available behind the Summit Church buildings. We have a large variety of vegetables of the season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and many more items.

HIGGINS REUNION: The Higgins Reunion will be Aug. 31, at Camp Pioneer. Gather at noon and odd will be at 1 p.m. Please bring a covered dish and come enjoy good food and company.

THOMPSON REUNION: The family and friends of the late Dillon and Hettie Thompson are invited to attend the annual reunion on Sunday, Aug. 31 at the church in Sully. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Meat, drinks, paper products will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish.

HAYMOND REUNION: will be Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Arlington Community Building. A covered dish lunch will begin at 1 p.m. Come out and meet, greet and renew family acquaintances.

RALLY: “Workers Over Billionaires” Rally will be Monday, Sept. 1 at Noon in front of the Randolph County Courthouse. Join in to honor the American worker, the true backbone of our country. Everyone of all political or non-political affiliation is welcome. The event will feature music, conversation and celebration. Sponsored by 50501 and Randolph County Dems. OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. WEDNESDAY PICKIN’ IN THE PARK: The weekly Wednesday traditional music jam sessions sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center (formerly taking place at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue) will now be held outdoors in the Elkins City Park. The acoustic music jam sessions will be held in the Small Pavilion (next to the rest rooms and the parking area) every Wednesday of the summer (weather permitting). Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., followed by Old-Time Music Jams from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All levels are welcome, as well as singers and listeners. The weekly jam sessions are co-sponsored by the Elkins Parks & Recreation. Anyone is welcome to participate (no sound systems or amplifiers). There are public benches and tables, and those who prefer to bring folding chairs may. In case of bad weather, signage at the pavilion will show the way to an alternative indoor location, the rear entrance to the Community Arts Center. Thanks to Armadillo Flats and C.J. Maggies restaurant for allowing the jam sessions to take place indoors during the cold weather months.

D.K. TETER REUNION: will be Sept. 7 at the VFW in Elkins in the Fellowhip Hall. Food will be at 1:30 p.m. A picnic lunch will be catered. There will be a celebration for the oldest, for his birthday. No gifts, please bring a card. There will be a fundraiser, two gift baskets and a a 50-50 drawing. For more information, call Nancy at 304-641-9556.

PICNIC/AUCTION: The Ninth Annual Randolph County Democratic Potluck Picnic/Dessert Auction will be Thursday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. at the Elkins City Park (large pavilion). Barbecue, tableware and drinks will be provided. Bring a dish to share, a dessert for the auction, and extra cash for the 50/50. Honored guest for the event will be Teresa Toriseva, Vice Chair of the WV Democratic Party. Everyone of all political or non-political affiliation is welcome. ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORICAL SOCIETY: will be hosting a genealogy workshop on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at its library located in the IOOF Building along the Beverly Five-lane. Those interested in their family history are invited to attend. Members experienced in genealogy research will be on hand to assist in identifying methods and sources for gathering and organizing information.
