BUCKHANNON — The Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur assisted in packing food for the Upshur Parish House’s “Break Bag” program, packing 121 packages on Sept. 30.
The “Break Bag” program helps to ensure that Head Start students in Upshur County, who are not eligible for the County’s weekend food program, will have food over long holiday breaks.
The Upshur Parish House received a grant from the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon, allowing them to provide monthly food packages to every Head Start student. Food packages include: soup, canned pasta, oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, applesauce, milk, and other easy to prepare food items.
The Parish House is preparing to provide 750 Upshur County Students with food packages for Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks and are accepting donations to support this program. Food item donations include: soup, canned pasta, granola bars, applesauce, and individually wrapped snacks.
Monetary donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Upshur Parish House (68 College Ave, Buckhannon, WV).
