Free holiday Maestri Vocale concert planned in Charleston

CHARLESTON — Maestri Vocale is a professional choir made up of singers who live in, or have ties to West Virginia. The majority of the members are degreed musicians, many of whom conduct their own ensembles, teach and perform regularly. The singers share a passion for making quality music in a wide range of genres and styles. Maestri Vocale is unique as it shares leadership. Furthermore, members take turns directing one another and sometimes act as accompanists on various instruments. The ensemble was created not only to promote and share excellent music in West Virginia, but also as a means for collaborative growth for members as singers, conductors, and makers of music. They perform two to three concerts a year.

Maestri Vocale will be presenting a holiday concert entitled, “Light of The World: An Evening of Handel’s Messiah and Other Sacred Selections.” This inspiring concert will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. at St John’s Episcopal Church in Charleston and on Monday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg.

Handel’s Messiah, is one of the best known and most frequently performed choral works worldwide. In keeping with Maestri Vocale’s shared leadership template, the performance will be conducted by Sarah Nale and Natalie Shaffer, founding members of the treble ensemble. Presented with soloists and a chamber string ensemble, the selections to be performed detail the birth of Jesus Christ and culminate in the widely popular “Hallelujah Chorus.”

Admission is free, but a free-will donation will be taken at the doors. Please come and celebrate the season

Starting at $3.92/week.
