ELKINS – A Beverly couple pleaded not guilty to methamphetamine-related drug charges during bond return hearings for grand jury indictments Tuesday in Randolph County Circuit Court.
Willard Marvin Lobb, 33, was indicted on one felony count of operating and attempting to operate clandestine drug laboratories, two felony counts of possession of a precursor with the intention to manufacture methamphetamine and one felony count of conspiracy.

The arrest of the couple came after Deputy M.P. Dyer and a Child Protective Services worker conducted an interview with a child, police said. According to the criminal complaint, the child provided the information that allowed Dyer to obtain a search warrant for the couple’s residence on Rural Route 1 in East Dailey.
Dyer said he was assisted by Cpl. B.D. Tice of the Elkins Police Department, who is a certified clandestine meth lab technician.
Dyer wrote in the complaint that “a search of the interior of the residence revealed several precursors to manufacture methamphetamine which included but was not limited to lithium batteries, coffee filters, pipe cutters, pliers, clear plastic tubing, iodized salt, Coleman camp fuel, fast dry paint thinner, Liquid Fire, drain opener, ice pack, lye, Mason jars, Gatorade bottles, an several other items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.”
The items were located in a blue wooden cabinet in a utility room in the back of the residence.
Police also found “handwritten instructions on the manufacturing of methamphetamine,” according to the criminal complaint.
Dyer said some of the materials were destroyed by police and others were taken to the West Virginia State Crime Lab for further testing.
According to the criminal complaint, an NPLEX search revealed purchases of pseudoephedrine by the couple between Jan. 2, 2014 and Feb. 21, 2014.
Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady told The Inter-Mountain two children under the age of 15 in the home were taken into CPS care. He said dogs were also removed by the Randolph County dog warden.
