Electronic, tire recycling events put on hold

ELKINS — The coronavirus as put a hold on everything, including recycling.

The city of Elkins and the Randolph County Sold Waste Authority have been fielding phone calls as to when the electronic and tire recycling events will be held.

Clark Martin, Chairman of the Randolph County Sold Waste Authority, said that the Department of Environmental Protection put a stop to tire collections around the state of West Virginia a month ago and has not been given the go ahead to start them back up.

The electronic recycling company, P C Renewal, has also put their recycling on hold as well.

Martin is hoping that if things clear soon the recycling events could get back underway in the early fall. Martin went on to say that if you have electronics or tires and you need to dispose of them now, contact Tygart Valley Sanitation at 304-338-2003.
