One killed in Rt. 33 crash

ELKINS — One person was killed in a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon on Rt. 33 East of Elkins near Bear Hunter Estates at about 2:24 p.m.

According to a press release from Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, at the scene of the wreck he saw a 2021 Ford SUV in the eastbound lane, and a 2016 Subaru Outback in the westbound lane. Elbon observed severe damage sustained by both vehicles.

“Witness statements were taken and all confirmed that (the Ford SUV) traveled left of center and struck (the Suburu) head-on,” Elbon wrote.

The driver of the Ford SUV was pronounced dead on the scene, the sheriff said. The driver of the Suburu was transported to Davis Medical Center by the Randolph County EMS.

Randolph County deputies and the Elkins Fire Department were also on the scene. No further information has been released.
