Man faces terroristic threats charge
Findley
PHILIPPI – A Barbour County man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to shoot a Philippi police officer in the face.
Clifton Russell Findley, 47, of Philippi, has been charged with making terroristic threats, a felony. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $20,000 bond.
The criminal complaint, prepared by Cpl. C. Curkendall of the Philippi Police Department, states that on Monday, Curkendall was at the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department in Philippi, when Findley asked to speak to him.
Findley “was irate about a traffic stop” that a deputy performed several hours before, for which Curkendall was on the scene, the complaint states. Findley allegedly “started ranting” about previous involvements with Curkendall.
Findley allegedly said, “I told you what I was going to do,” to which Curkendall replied, “I don’t know what you told me,” according to the complaint.
“I told you what I was going to do,” Findley allegedly said, adding, “You best get back in that kit car of yours and drive on back to Philippi. Because you ain’t going to arrest my cousin,” the complaint states.
“I told you I would shoot you in the face,” Findley told Curkendall, according to the complaint.
At that point, Curkendall placed Findley “into restraints and Findley passively resisted officers,” the complaint states. “Findley was placed in custody and forcefully taken to my vehicle. Findley was then transported to TVRJ.”
