ELKINS — Three evenings of concerts capped off by a huge fireworks display will highlight the Fourth of July weekend, the headliner of Our Town’s 2024 Live & Drive Concert Series at the Rotary Amphitheater in Elkins Town Square.

The 11-date series will get underway on May 9 and will conclude on Aug. 22. Each of the concerts on Thursday will be offered in conjunction with the Mountain State Street Machines’ weekly Cruise-In, which will take place on Railroad Avenue next to the Elkins Railyard Train Depot.

Each Cruise-In will begin at 5 p.m., accompanied by a musical performance on the Amphitheatre stage at 6 p.m. There will be a 50/50 drawing at each cruise-in as well as food and concessions.

“We are excited to have a really good lineup this year again,” Our Town Inc. President Tammy Dolly told The Inter-Mountain. “We are thrilled to offer the annual Live and Drive Summer Concert Series along with the Cruise-In every second and fourth Thursday evening from May 9 to Aug. 22.

“We hope people will enjoy walking around the Depot on Railroad Avenue beginning at 5 p.m. to view the many classic cars that cruise into town from Elkins and nearby towns. Then at 6 p.m., everyone can bring a lawn chair and pick a spot around the Amphitheater stage and listen to a free concert until 8 p.m.”

This year’s series will kick off on May 9 when Ryan Cain and the Ables bring their rockabilly and honky-tonk sound to the outdoor stage. It will be the third-straight year that Ryan Cain and the Ables have performed as part of the concert series.

This year’s Fourth of July celebration will cover three evenings, beginning on Thursday, July 4, when the 249th Army Band returns to Elkins for a performance. Motorcycle Drive-By will take to the stage the following day and the Rick K Road Trip will cap off the celebration on Saturday. A fireworks display will follow the Rick K performance.

The 2024 Mountain State Street Machines Car Show will begin on Friday, July 5 with a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The main show will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cash, trophies and plaques will be awarded.

“Our Town Inc., with the generous support of the area businesses and local individuals, are pleased to bring this summertime event to our community,” said Our Town volunteer Priscilla Gay.

“Some past comments Our Town has received that exhibit the community’s enthusiasm include, ‘I love those shows and cannot wait’ and ‘Elkins is really on the move with free concerts all summer long,’ said Gay.
