Man allegedly threw vacuum cleaner through windshield

COALTON — A Randolph County man is behind bars and facing a drug charge after he allegedly threw a vacuum cleaner through the window of a vehicle.
Timothy Burdette, 51, is being charged with destruction of property and possession of a controlled substance. He is currently lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Coalton area on Tuesday for a “domestic in progress” call.
“Timothy Burdette was found on scene and had caused damage to a Ford Fusion by using a Shop Vac-style vacuum cleaner and struck the vehicle several times and then threw the vacuum through the windshield,” the release states. “Burdette was detained at the scene due to his aggression during the process of investigation, and … was found to be in possession of marijuana as well.”
According to the release, the damage to the car was in excess of $1,000.

ELKINS — A local man is behind bars after allegedly driving under the the influence of alcohol.
Dustin Lee Wingfield, 47, is being charged with driving under the influence, following an April 13 incident.
According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy J. Wolfe was patrolling along Isner Creek Road in the Glenmore area and observed a gray Hyundai Elantra traveling along Isner Creek toward the Glenmore Loop with defective registration lights.
Wolfe initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, the release states.
“I observed in the cup holder an open beer can,” Wolfe writes in the release. “I asked Mr. Wingfield what he was drinking tonight. Mr. Wingfield advised, ‘I had a couple beers earlier.’ I observed Mr. Wingfield breathing very heavily and would not make eye contact with me. Mr. Wingfield began getting upset with me, raising his voice and crying. Mr. Wingfield advised, ‘Take me to jail.'”
According to the release, Wingfield exited the vehicle when instructed and the officer conducted three standardized field sobriety field tests on Wingfield, who failed the horizontal gaze and the walk and turn tests. While attempting the one-leg stand, Wingfield reportedly gave up after 10 seconds and advised the officer, “I can’t do this.”
Wingfield consented to a preliminary breath test and the results of the test were .169. Wingfield shwas placed under arrest and transported to the Elkins Police Department for further processing, the release states.
While at the EPD, Wingfield was read his Miranda rights and agreed to take a secondary breath test, which showed Wingfield had an alcohol content of .142. During the interview, Wingfield admitted to consuming a 12-pack of beer throughout the day.
