Flood watch in effect for Randolph, Upshur, Barbour, Pocahontas
ELKINS – The National Weather Service has announced that a flood watch will be in effect from 2 p.m. today through this evening for Randolph, Upshur, Barbour and Pocahontas counties.
The watch states that “excessive rainfall is possible” today, and that “excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.”
The NWS also states that “Heavy downpours over already saturated ground and repetitive rounds of rain over the same locations may lead to flash flooding.”
The flood watch is also in effect for several other counties in West Virginia, and portions of Ohio and Kentucky.
