WVU photo Fabrizio D’Aloisio will serve as the next vice president for WVU Enrollment Management.

MORGANTOWN – Making a key leadership decision in the early days of his administration, West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson is announcing the hiring of Fabrizio D’Aloisio as vice president for WVU Enrollment Management.

Most recently, D’Aloisio has served as associate vice provost for enrollment management and executive director of undergraduate admissions at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville — a public, land-grant, R1 institution with nearly 39,000 students.

“Fabrizio is a first-generation college graduate with extensive higher education career experience who will bring new energy and clear direction to WVU Enrollment Management,” President Benson said.

“With Fabrizio’s leadership, WVU will recruit, educate, and graduate students who are prepared to take on the world.” 

At UT, Knoxville, D’Aloisio has been integral in growing enrollment as the chief admissions officer overseeing recruitment and outreach efforts for first-year students nationally and internationally along with transfer students.

“I am inspired by the power of education to change lives,” D’Aloisio said. “As a long-time advocate for the benefits of higher education, I am looking forward to tapping into the strengths of the WVU Enrollment Management team — current employees and future hires — to help prospective students and those already at WVU understand the kind of difference the University can make for them.”

Prior to his time at UT, Knoxville, D’Aloisio worked with the College Board in various positions, including executive director for higher education services which focused on helping colleges and universities achieve enrollment goals with support from College Board assessments, programs and services, consulting and training.

He began his career as an admissions counselor at his alma mater, the State University of New York, College at Fredonia, before taking the role of assistant director of transfer admissions.

A University search committee worked with Greenwood Asher & Associates, a full-service search firm, to attract and identify top candidates from across the country for the position.

That committee included Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Paul Kreider, Strategic Communications and Marketing Vice President Heather Richardson, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Paula Congelio and WVU Board of Governors member Susan Lavenski.

As part of the search process, D’Aloisio talked with many members of the University community during an on-site campus visit on July 21.

“Going forward, Enrollment Management team members will be working together and with our partners across campus to create seamless student experiences,” D’Aloisio said. “I want to see WVU students find and tap into the many opportunities available to them. We’ll know we’ve been successful when we see them graduate, prepared for whatever is next.”

In addition to a bachelor’s degree in political science from the State University of New York, College at Fredonia, D’Aloisio earned a master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo.

D’Aloisio’s official start date is Sept. 22.
