Summer Concert Series heating up

ELKINS — The 2024 Our Town Inc. Summer Concert Series is winding down, but organizers hope to end the season with a bang.

This summer’s series featured a variety of performers from different genres and included, for the first time ever, a handful of tribute bands. Things will shift into the originality gear this Friday, however, when an array of original rock bands take to the Rotary Amphitheater stage for a 6:30 p.m. concert.

This weekend’s show will feature a pair of headlining acts, Tuck Smith & The Restless Hearts, and Seven Year Witch. Two opening acts, Rebels Opera and the Rockfather (Brad Smith) and Friends, will perform before the headliners hit the stage.

Tuck Smith & The Restless Hearts is an American rock band from Nashville founded and fronted by former Biters frontman Tuk Smith. The band was slated to be the opening act for the 2020 Motley Crue and Def Leppard Stadium Tour, but the tour was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seven Year Witch, which describes itself as “the Earth’s last rock n roll band,” has been touring nationally and internationally since 2013. The South Carolina-based band has shared the stage with such acts as Buckcherry, Pop Evil and the Gin Blossoms.

Following this week’s rocking lineup, the Summer Series will culminate when Carpool, a Cars tribute band, plays the final show of the season on Aug. 22. Carpool recreates the sound, feel, look and vibe that made the Cars world famous.

The band consists of five of the best and hardest working full-time musicians in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Their performance meticulously captures all the essence of the Cars and brings it onto the stage. A Carpool show will take you right back to when the Cars were the soundtrack of many people’s lives.
