Rain doesn’t ruin kick-off of MSFF

ELKINS — The theme of this year’s Mountain State Forest Festival is “Embrace Nature’s Charm” and on Saturday morning, a large audience chose to embrace the charm of the drizzling rain and turn out for the official MSFF opening ceremony despite the weather.

At the Jennings Randolph Federal Center Saturday, MSFF Director General Lisa Shaffer introduced Maids of Honor Ellyse Goddard and Macie Romero, along with this year’s royal minor court.

The West Virginia Highlanders performed during the ceremony, while two West Virginia Highland Dancers performed several traditional dances for the assembled crowd.

The Maids of Honor also presented Shaffer with a special gift presentation, and the MSFF assistant directors were all presented tokens of appreciation during the ceremony.

Pastor Michael Boggs delivered the ceremony’s invocation and benediction, expressing hope for a safe and joyous week’s celebration.
