Arts Center announces exhibition winners
ELKINS — The Randolph County Arts Center recently announced the award recipients from this year’s Mountain State Forest Festival Juried Fall Arts Exhibition and Student Juried Art Exhibition.
The annual event features artwork from artists throughout West Virginia. This year’s juror, Frederick Hays, reviewed submissions through a blind process. Hays’ focus in judging the artwork was on originality, quality and professional presentation.
There were three categories of the exhibition, Main Show, Short Show, and Student Show. The Main Show exhibition will remain on display in Great Hall at the Arts Center through Nov. 19.
Main Show Award Winners: Best of Show – “High Street, Mannington” by Linda Elmer; First Place – “Some Like it Hot” by Stella Athena Gregory; Second Place – “Land Escape” by Pam Roberts; Third Place – “Day at Teter Creek Lake” by David Phillips; Honorable Mention 1 – “Peacefulness” by Melanie Campbell; Honorable Mention 2 – “This Soft World” by Marjory Moses;
Davis Trust Purchase Prize – “Morning Wishes” by Debi Eastep; Seneca Trail Artists Guild Watercolor Award – “End of a Good Day” by Carolyn Light; Seneca Trail Artists Guild Any Medium Award – “Daniel’s Creek Bridge” by Maggi Rhudy; West Virginia Watercolor Society Award – “Wink” by Jeannine Romano;
Queen’s Choice – “Gaudineer, Flower of Life” by Brad Basil; Maid of Honor Choice (Macie Romero) – “End of a Good Day” by Carolyn Light; Maid of Honor Choice (Ellyse Goddard) – ‘Takin’ Care of Beesiness” by Natasha Evans.
Student Show Award Winners (Elementary): First Place – “Fireball” by Holden Isner; Second Place – “The Meowmazing Cat” by Aurora Isner; Third place – “Firefly Collection” by Iris Edwards; Participation – “Guy” by Sutton Croston.
Student Show Award Winners (Middle School): First Place – “Cloud Sifted Jest” by Gunner McNemar; Second Place – “Dog” by Leland Robinson; Third Place – “Doug” by Trip Lewis; Participation – “Origami Rams Heads” by Everett Garver-Daniels.
Student Show Award Winners (High School): First Place – “Finger Painting of Kusama” by Abigail Radabaugh; Second Place – “Portrait” by Zailynn Kelley; Third Place – “3D Skull” by Raelynn Phillips; Participation – “Artificial Light” by Tamia Lewis.
