ROCK CAVE — One person was pronounced dead after a single-vehicle ATV crash in Upshur County on Halloween, police said.

On the night of Friday, Oct. 31, officers responded to a “single-vehicle ATV crash on Gougerville Road in the southern part of Upshur County,” the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office announced in a social media statement.

“A deputy arrived at the scene at 7:48 p.m., and the investigation is ongoing,” the release from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said. “Preliminary findings indicate a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a single-vehicle ATV with one occupant.”

More details surrounding the incident will be released as the investigation continues, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said in the release.
