Randolph County man faces felony charge
HUTTONSVILLE — A Randolph County man faces a felony charge after allegedly driving a vehicle with a fraudulent registration.
Joshua Clarence Miller, 30, is charged with fraud registration, a felony. Miller was being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $3,000 cash-only bond set by Randolph County Magistrate Benjamin Shepler that has since been posted.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper H. J. Bonetti with the West Virginia State Police, on Nov. 7, Bonetti observed a vehicle at the Par Mar in Huttonsville. Miller was allegedly observed to be in the driver’s seat.
The vehicle was identified as a blue in color 2003 Ford Explorer, the complaint states. Bonetti ran the vehicle’s West Virginia registration through Computer Assisted Dispatch and found that the registration had expired in 2024 and belonged on a black in color 2007 Ford Fusion.
Bonetti made contact with Miller and asked for his operator’s license, proof of registration and proof of insurance, the complaint states. Miller did not have his operator license on him, but was able to provide Bonetti with the license’s number. Miller also did not have proof or registration or proof of insurance.
When asked by Bonetti if he was driving the vehicle, Miller allegedly said he was doing mechanic work on the vehicle and had driven the vehicle to Par Mar to get fuel, the complaint states. Bonetti also observed a fraudulent motor vehicle inspection on the vehicle, as well as a crack in the front windshield that was “obstructing (Miller’s) view.”
