12 candidates file for Barbour BOE

PHILIPPI — A total of 12 candidates have filed to run for the four Barbour County Board of Education seats that will be on the ballot during the May 12 West Virginia Primary Election.

Three four-year term seats and one two-year unexpired term seat, which was vacated, are up for grabs for the Barbour County BOE. Incumbents David Everson, Joanne McConnell and Ron “Redman” Phillips have all filed for re-election, and will face a lengthy list of challengers.

Johnna Croston, Jennifer Irvin, Brittany Eubank, Carlton Jody Haller, Kimberly Hymes, Michael Maddix, Larry McGill, Ashley Ryan and Kristy Stalnaker have all put their hats in the ring for the Barbour County BOE.

In the Barbour County Commission race, incumbent Republican David Strait has filed to run for re-election, and will be challenged by Democratic candidate Joyce Wilson for the North District seat.

Delbert J. Vandevender filed to run for Barbour County Conservation District Supervisor, while Lisa Weese and Derick Spencer put paperwork in to run for District 2 Republican Congressional District Executive Committee.

In District 11, three Republicans filed for the Senatorial District Executive Committee, including Weese, Spencer, and Gregory Murphy. All three candidates also filed for Delegate District Executive Committee in District 68.

Judy Braunsberg, Deb Dadisman, Samantha Daugherty, Karen Larry, and Joyce Wilson filed for Female Democrat County Executive Committee, while Laurie Austin, Grace Renee Howdershelt, Chasity McGill, Melody Murphy, Beverly Pennington, and Lisa Weese filed for Female Republican County Executive Committee.

Ed Larry filed for Male Democrat County Executive Committee, while John David, Gregory Murphy, Chris Phillips, and Derick Spencer filed for Republican County Executive Committee.
