Family of missing woman asks for public’s assistance

ELKINS — The family of a woman who was reported missing from the Elkins area more than a week ago are asking the public for help in their search for her.

Gabrielle Allen, 64, was last seen walking south on Route 219 toward Beverly around 5 a.m. Sunday, March 15, captured on camera near Roy’s RV.

A resident of Vienna, Allen was visiting family in Elkins and may have been trying to return home, officials said. She was wearing a black jacket, colorful shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.

Allen has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and may be confused or unable to ask for help. Anyone who was driving along Route 219 on the morning of March 15 or who has information is urged to contact the West Virginia State Police.

Allen’s family, located in Canton, Ohio, has released the following statement:

“Gabrielle Allen, our mother, aunt, sister, daughter, and friend, is a beloved woman whose kindness and compassion have touched everyone she meets. She has a gift for making people feel seen and valued, always offering a listening ear or a helping hand.

“Gabrielle’s love for music shines through when she plays the piano, filling the room with melodies that bring comfort and joy. She is the heart of our family – devoted, thoughtful, and always putting others before herself.

“Whether she’s supporting friends in need or simply sharing a warm smile, Gabrielle’s presence lights up every room.”

The family’s statement continues: “Gabrielle was last seen at a Roy’s RV Sales around 5 a.m. on March 15, and her personal belongings were found along US Route 219. She was staying with family near Elkins, West Virginia on March 15 when she went missing. She lives in Vienna, West Virginia.

“The support of our community means everything to us during this difficult time. Our family is heartbroken as we search for her, and we are determined to do everything we can to bring her home safely.”
