Officials: One dead, two injured in Barbour fire
PHILIPPI — One person died and two people were injured in connection with a Friday afternoon residence fire in Barbour County, officials said.
The fire was reported at a home on Sand Run Road, about five miles from Philippi, at about noon Friday.
Philippi Fire Department officials said the cause of the fire is being investigated by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal.
One of the injured victims was transported by HealthNet helicopter to the West Penn Burn Center, officials said. The other patient was transported to Broaddus Hospital.
The Philippi, Belington, Junior and Nutter Fort fire departments, along with Barbour County EMS, responded to the fire.
