ELKINS – The Elkins Tree Board and Kump Education Center’s final Tree Talk will be Wednesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at the historic Kump House. The lecture will be “Forest Invaders: How Invasives Wreak Woodland Havoc” with Michelle Fonda, Private Lands and Invasive Species Biologist with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
This talk will highlight some common and emerging invasive species in the woods of West Virginia. These Invasive species wreak havoc on forest ecosystems and have negative implications for the economy and human health. The presentation will include WVDNR efforts to manage invasive species on public lands and provide advice for how members of the public can help protect and restore West Virginia forests from the impacts of invasive species.
Fonda is passionate about ecological restoration and provides West Virginia landowners with knowledge about improving wildlife habitat and managing invasive species.
This event is free and open to the public and takes place in the downstairs learning lab of the KEC, located at 401 Randolph Ave., Elkins (across from Kroger). Parking is available in the back and accessible by Seneca Road.
