Officials discuss ownership of EMS property

ELKINS - The Randolph County Commission agreed to conduct a deed search for one of the Randolph County Emergency Squad's stations during its most recent meeting During the meeting, Commission President David Kesling made a motion to do a search in order to transfer the deed of Station 1 to the Randolph County Ambulance Authority. CHARLESTON - Governor Patrick Morrisey on Monday afternoon declared a State of Emergency for Barbour County following severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that caused significant flooding and damage across the county beginning on July 18. Church seeking funds for expansion of facility

ELKINS — The Ambassador Baptist Church is seeking funds to build a new facility at its current location in Highland Park.      Since 2007, when the church started Ambassador Ministries, a nonprofit, it has continued to grow and the ministry has found it necessary to construct a new facility in order to meet its needs, officials said.      Beyond offering the traditional church services, the Ambassador Baptist Church has expanded to an international outreach, a K-12 private school, and a counseling agency, Pastor Mike House said.    "We are going to take down the ...

Blood shortage declared an emergency

PARKERSBURG – An emergency blood shortage has been reported by the American Red Cross because of an "alarming drop" in supplies, the agency said. The blood supply dropped about 25% in June, the Red Cross said. "The American Red Cross is facing an emergency blood shortage and needs donors to give now and take steps to protect patient care," Sharon Kesselring, executive director of the American Red Cross of the Ohio River Valley, said.
