Upshur grand jury indicts 26 people

BUCKHANNON – A total of 26 individuals were named in indictments by an Upshur County grand jury Monday. Gary Matthew Gundersen, 43, of Buckhannon, was indicted for soliciting a minor via computer; two counts of use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor; failure to provide notice of change to required sex offender registration information, lifetime registrant; and sexual assault in the third degree, all felonies. Plea entered in fraudulent schemes case

ELKINS — A Barbour County man accused of conspiring to use a fraudulent check to buy two side-by-sides in Randolph County for more than $82,000 entered into a plea agreement. Joseph Brian George, 54, of Philippi, pleaded guilty to one count of fraudulent schemes and one count of conspiracy, both misdemeanors. Upshur residents may qualify for disaster SNAP benefits

CHARLESTON – Upshur County is one of four West Virginia counties where residents may qualify for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits or SNAP supplements in relation to the severe July 21 flooding. Affected residents in Upshur, Lewis, Ritchie and Pleasants counties may apply Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at designated locations in each county.
