DOT says beware of hydroplaning

ELKINS – With more rain in the weather forecast for this weekend, the West Virginia Department of Transportation is urging drivers to be aware of the dangers of hydroplaning on slick roads. The National Weather Service is calling for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, with a 90% chance of precipitation during the day and 80% overnight. The NWS is predicting rain to continue through the weekend into Sunday in our region. Grand Jury to hear case against Ray

ELKINS — The Grand Jury will hear the case against a local pastor accused of selling vehicles to customers that were under bank liens after he waived his preliminary hearing. Curlie Eugene Ray Jr., 55, of Beverly, is charged with one count of fraudulent schemes, a felony. He is currently being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond. Ray serves as the senior pastor of Tygart Valley Ministries, Beverly Community Church. On Monday, Ray appeared in Randolph County Magistrate Court and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. WVU loses to North Carolina in CWS

OMAHA, Neb. – Brodie Kresser said he was thinking double play when he saw the ground ball off the bat of North Carolina’s Jake Schaffner on Sunday night. A double play would have got West Virginia out of the seventh inning tied with North Carolina. Instead, the ball came off hard and fell off Kresser’s glove.
