Emma Jean Bonner Haller
HALLER
Emma Jean Bonner Haller, 89, departed this life on Jan. 1, 2023, surrounded by her children. For 68 years, she was the wife and one true love of the late Earl Haller.
She was born on June 1, 1933, in Mill Run, West Virginia, to the late Seymour and Lettie Bonner.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Seymour Allen Bonner; and sister, Goldie Bonner Sample; and two great-grandsons, Caleb Morgan and Gideon Linck.
Survived by her three loving children and their spouses, Kathy and Bruce Morgan, Greg and Joan Haller, Jane and John Roby; and her beloved sister-in-law, Rita Haller Roberts.
Her most cherished treasures were her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family.
Emma Jean, “Mom-mom,” found the greatest pleasure of life in tending to her family, cooking, baking, quilting, crocheting and gardening.
A graduate of Parsons High School in 1951, she moved to Washington, D.C., with her sister. It was there she met her husband, Earl, and they moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where they would spend the next 30 years raising their family. Earl retired from General Motors in 1983, and they returned to their beloved hometown of Parsons.
Those who loved her most will miss being greeted by the sweet smell of her legendary hot milk cake and waking up to her famous hamburger gravy for breakfast.
If Mom-Mom knew anything, it was that a full belly makes for a happy heart. We will miss sitting on the back porch with her watching the deer and hummingbirds. We will remember her deep rooted faith and love of family, friends and the West Virginia mountains she called home.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home in Parsons on Friday, Jan. 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m.
The Rev. James Snyder will be officiating and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons West Virginia.
The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Emma Jean Bonner Haller.
