Neal Hampton ‘Peanut’ McCauley
MCCAULEY
Neal Hampton “Peanut” McCauley, 86, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at home with family by his side and under the care of West Virginia Caring.
Peanut was born Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1936, in Adolph, a son of the late Riley Cecil McCauley and Viola Cowger McCauley.
Left to cherish his memory are six children, Esker McCauley, Jimmy McCauley and wife, Susan, Valinda Scott and husband, Mart, Victor Dale Raines and companion, DeeDee Maxson, Brenda Shiflett and husband, Mike, and Larry Raines; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Carol McCauley.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three children, George McCauley, Vicky Johnson, and Ronnie Raines; 11 siblings, Carl, Oliver, Denver, Nelson, Gail, Freda, Vada, Lyndl, Gladys, Pauline and Opal; and his companion of 40 years, Betty Hannah.
Peanut attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed as a coal miner and retired from Mettiki Coal. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved going to church. Peanut attended the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church.
Visitation will be held at the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour.
Rev. Jared Harper will officiate and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
