First Sergeant Everett Arthur Post, 87, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Friday, May 26, 2023, at his home.

He was born February 24, 1936, in Upshur County, West Virginia, a son of the late Everett B. and Macie M. Maxon Post. On July 22, 1960, he married Wilma L. Burr, who survives.

Also surviving are his son, John A. Post and wife, Rebecca, of Clarksburg, West Virginia; grandson, Dustin William Post and wife, April, of Hephzibah, West Virginia; great-grandson, Brock William Post of Hephzibah; great-granddaughter, Emmy K. Post of Hephzibah; sister, Betty Lou Oldaker and husband, Robert, of Rock Cave, West Virginia; and brother, Steve R. Post and wife, Rena, of Martinsburg, West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Lou Post.

First Sergeant Post retired from U.S. Army with 22 years of service, having served in Vietnam, Korea, Japan and the Netherlands. He received the following during his tenure, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and two Overseas Service Bars.

Following his military career, he worked for the Department of Weights & Measures for the State of West Virginia. He was Mason and a 50 year member of the Franklin Lodge 7 AF & AM. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading Western novels, going fishing and having coffee with his buddies at the Donut Shop.

Friends will be received Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Sid Clevenger officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
