Janice Marie Harr, 79, of Davis, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Aug. 12, 2023.
Born on Sept. 16, 1943, in Buckhannon, she was the daughter of the late Fred Ware, Ruby (Lewis) Harr and Joseph Harr.
Janice had a fulfilling career that spanned various fields. After graduating from Buckhannon-Upshur High School, she began working as a waitress at Baxa’s Restaurant in Buckhannon. Her warm personality and exceptional service made her a favorite among the customers. Later on, Janice pursued a career as a type setter at Moore Business Forms. Her meticulous attention to detail and dedication to her work were admired by all who knew her. Janice’s final occupation was with WBRB radio station.
She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Janice had a love for family events and holidays, especially Christmas. Her fun-loving spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Doll collecting and bluegrass music held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed supporting WVU sports and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Going to the beach brought her great joy. Janice had an immense love for animals and doted on her two cats, (Stormy and Taz), and granddog, (Pete). She was Chaplain in the Thomas Fairfax Lodge for the Order of the Eastern Star and later a member of Petersburg Chapter 146.
Janice is survived by her son, Randall Harr and companion, Cynthia Harman, of Canaan Valley; and her daughter, Beverly Kennedy Kleeberg of Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was a loving grandmother to Melissa Harr, Justin Brewer, Mark Keeney and his wife, Leah, Jennifer Keeney and her wife, Candace, Daniel Keeney and his wife, Jennifer, and Jacob Kleeberg and his companion, Tatiana. Janice had the pleasure of being a great-grandmother to Maddy, Mason, Ella Jane, Jay and Avett.
Janice leaves behind two siblings who meant the world to her, Pauline “Beanie” Walter and her husband, Bill, of Wooster, Ohio, and Fred “Buck” Ware and his wife, Mary, of Buckhannon. Their close bond brought immeasurable happiness to Janice’s life.
She will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews who she adored.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Withrow Harr.
Janice Marie Harr will forever be remembered for her warm smile, contagious laughter, and unwavering love for her family. Her fun-loving nature created a light in the lives of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the hearts of so many during her time with us.
A graveside service will be held on Aug. 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the Cortland Cemetery (Mt. Hebron Cemetery). A celebration of life will follow at 2 p.m. in the Thomas Senior Center.
