John Daniel Tenney
TENNEY
John Daniel Tenney, 78, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, at Teays Valley Center in Hurricane, West Virginia.
He was the youngest of five children to Forrest Glen Tenney and Ireta Jane Lewis Tenney. He had one daughter, Johnna Darnell and husband, Matthew, of Charleston, West Virginia, who survives him. He has two surviving sisters, Thelma Moore of Yakima, Washington, and Karen Woody and husband, Dale, of Buckhannon, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Gene Tenney and Jennings Tenney.
He is also survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lucille Brady Tenney of West Virginia.
He had three stepsons, Virgil “Rusty” White, Rick White and wife, Anita Adams White, and Rocky White, all from West Virginia; four step-grandchildren, Dillon White of West Virginia, Lindsay Wagner and husband, Daniel of Pennsylvania, Ethan White and wife, Carolyn, of Maryland, and Coleton White of Montana; and three step-great grandchildren, Greyson Flores, Landan and Maliyah Wagner of Pennsylvania.
He was a press operator supervisor for Moore Business forms for 30 years. Additionally, he was a dedicated EMT/Paramedic who started as a volunteer in 1973 and was with the squad until retirement. He was also a CPR and advanced training instructor. He is an honorary member of the Upshur County emergency squad. He also envisioned and helped fund the current Helipad at St Joesph’s hospital that is still use today.
In honoring John’s wishes, he will be cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
