Deborah ‘Debbie’ Ann Golden (Frey)

Deborah “Debbie” Ann Golden (Frey), 61, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at her home Nov. 1, 2023, after battling an extended illness.

Debbie was born Oct. 29, 1962, to Norma Poling (Carpenter) and the late Darl Eugene Frey in Philippi, West Virginia.

She was the beloved step-daughter of Robert Poling.

She graduated from Philip Barbour High School and wore many hats during her working career. She most recently spent many years working at The Good Samaritan Society. Debbie was a ‘helper’, she truly enjoyed helping others. She was always one of the first people to volunteer or step up and help without being asked.

This shone through at work and during her everyday life. She always wanted to ensure people were taken care of and throughout her life she helped take care of numerous people during their final months and days of their lives.

Debbie was a “giver,” she loved her family deeply and was the best mother and grandmother. She would always sacrifice to ensure her family had what they needed before meeting her own needs.

She was full of life and spunk. She never met a stranger and had many dear friends. She loved to travel when she had the opportunity, especially with her daughters and dear friend, Kim Bolton. She lived life to the fullest and was always up for an adventure and loved to do new things and try new foods.

Debbie was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Willard and Mavis Carpenter.

She is survived by her mother, Norma Poling; step-father, Robert Poling; husband, Clifford Golden; and two daughters, Melissa Burner (husband Daniel Burner) and Kayla Isabella (husband Christopher Isabella).

She is additionally survived by her cherished grandchildren, Abigail, Rebekah and Sarah Burner and Jackson and Aubrey Toth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory, 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m.

In honor of Debbie’s request, cremation will follow.
