Dorothy Jean White Simpson

Dorothy Jean White Simpson, 87, a resident of the Holly Meadows Community, Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2024, at Autumn Lake Health Care at Crystal Springs, West Virginia, with her family by her side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
She was born on Wednesday, May 26, 1937, at Job, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Snowden Scott White and Flora Long White.
On July 24, 1958, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to William Lee Simpson, who preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2011.
Surviving are three sons, David William Simpson of Sugarlands, Hambleton, West Virginia, Thomas Lee Simpson and wife, Nancy, of Clover Run, and Michael Allen Simpson of Hambleton; one daughter, Diana Jean Eye and husband, Steve, of Holly Meadows; seven grandchildren, Shelly Lynn Simpson, Daniel Lee Simpson, Adam Simpson, Joshua Simpson, Michelle Louria, Amber Nichole Eye and Shena Rena Eye: nine great-grandchildren, Zachary Hart, Maliyah Liske, Josephine Simpson, Hudson Wyatt Simpson, Pasley Piffer, Zoey Simpson, Zane Simpson, Brooklin Louria and Dominic Louria; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are six brothers, Warren White, Norman White, Brian White, Everett White, Branson White, Harvey White and David White; five sisters, Annie George, Jeanette Warner, Okey Price, Ruth Delaney and Nellie White; and one grandson, David Lee Simpson, who preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2019.
She attended the two-room school at Job and Harman High School. She was a homemaker, and, also cleaned houses for others. She was a former employee of the Tucker County Board of Education, working with the Head Start Program, a former employee of the Parsons Nursery Bottom and for 30 years she worked as a caregiver for Cortland Acres, until her retirement. She was a member of the Tucker County Senior Center, where she also sang in the choir, and was a member of the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, from 10 a.m. until noon.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at noon.
Pastor Bob Yothers will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia.
