Charles ‘Jim’ Rogers

Charles “Jim” Rogers, 79, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, passed away from this life Friday morning, May 16, 2025, at 4:26 a.m.

He was born Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1945, at Webster Springs, West Virginia, a son of the late Roy and Della Keener Rogers.

On April 26, 1965, he married Delcina “Ann” Barnett, who survives and had celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory are two sons, Ed Rogers and wife, Debi, and Ronnie Rogers; two granddaughters, Brittany Brown and husband, Ryan, and Cassie Hill and husband, Brett; three great-grandkids, Bailey Brown, Waylon Brown and Grantley Hill; many special nieces and nephews; and family friend, Robert Hunt and family.

He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Tom, Joe, John, Bill and Marvin Rogers; and four sisters, Wanda Cogar, Betty Linville, Letha Ware and Karen Bush.

He attended Webster County Schools. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed at Nike Hercules Missile Base in Germany.

After the military he worked on a dairy farm while living in Arizona, then returned to West Virginia and drove truck for several years before going to work in the coal mines in Fayette County. He retired from Armstrong Paving. He was an avid hunter and loved to trout fish on the Dry Fork River and spending time at his camp in Limestone. He was a member of the Pythagoras Lodge 128 A.F. & A. M of Parsons, Parsons Chapter 91, Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite of Charleston, Beni Kedem Shrine of Charleston, Tygart Valley Shrine Club, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled Veterans of America. He was a member of the Issaac Walton League and served as president for several years.

He attended the First United Methodist Church in Parsons.

Jim loved his family and his grandchildren dearly. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Julie Davis and The Rev. James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia, where the WV Army Honor Guard, the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Assoc. will conduct Full military honors.

The Pythagoras Lodge 128 A.F. & A.M. will conduct ritualistic rites.
