Anna Ruth Reed Johns

She was born April 6, 1938, in Adrian, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Enoch W. and Minnie Gay Lantz Reed.

On Sept. 9, 1956, she married Harold B. Johns. They were married for 61 years before he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2017.

She was the last surviving member of her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy; three brothers, Kenneth, Carl and Enoch Reed; and five sisters, May Ware, Gay Norman, Mary Norman, Merle Casto Miller and Ethel Smith Chipps.

She is survived by four daughters, Cornelia Cooley and husband, Willis, of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, Donnis Temple and husband, Dicky, of Hornbeck, Louisiana, Malinda Garner and husband, Thomas, of Greencastle, and Teresa Snyder and husband, Douglas, of Little Orleans, Maryland; one son, Harold Johns Jr. and wife, Mary, of Columbia, Maryland; 13 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Mrs. Johns was a cook at Flintstone School for many years until she retired.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Heartland Hospice Team of Chambersburg for their care.

Friends will be received Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday from the funeral home, with the Rev. William Kerns officiating.

Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
