Josephine ‘Joy’ Lewis Clark
CLARK
Josephine “Joy” Lewis Clark, 73, of Elkins, West Virginia, entered her eternal rest, joyfully looking forward to arriving in heaven and meeting her Lord, whom she served faithfully.
Born on March 11, 1952, in Elkins, Josephine was the beloved daughter of Ernest and Lina Lewis, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph Burke and wife, Jodi, and Stephen Long.
Josephine was a proud grandmother to Grady and Reagan Burke.
She leaves behind her cherished siblings, Judy Shoffner and Junior Lewis and his wife, Jeanette Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.
Josephine was also preceded in death by her son, Markie Burke; sister, Rita Kincaid and Mark Lynn Burke.
In 1990, Josephine founded Advance Realty, a business she passionately operated for more than 30 years. For Josephine, real estate was not just a career-it was a ministry. She found immense joy in helping others find homes, often reducing her fees for those in need, prioritizing compassion over profit. Her dedication extended far beyond transactions, forging lifelong friendships with many of her clients. Among her realtor family were Patti Reckart, Penny Gadd, Carol Tacy, Renea Yokum and Kelly Coger, whom she mentored and loved as her own family.
Josephine’s kindness was also evident in her community service. She regularly visited nursing homes, providing church services and spending time with the elderly. Her compassionate care brought comfort, love, and the message of Jesus Christ to those she served. Sharing her faith was her greatest calling, and she encouraged all around her to seek a relationship with Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the local church outreach or nursing home ministries of your choice, continuing her legacy of love and service in others. Her impact will forever be felt in the lives she touched, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Frank Hinzman officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Beverly.
