Randolph Democrats offer response to Republican margin

First of all, we’d like to congratulate Randolph County Republicans on their seven-vote majority in voter registrations reported in The Inter-Mountain on Tuesday, Dec. 5. That being said, we understand these numbers are fluid, changing from day to day, which doesn’t mean Randolph is now a red county. We’d say more like purple. Reporting on voter registration in such a way doesn’t necessarily mean every one of those individuals will cast a ballot on election day. The article also failed to take into account the number of people who are registered as independent or with ...

Is this the end of the rule of law in the U.S.?

Democrats have an ace in the hole in their relentless war on the Constitution. Conservative American citizens’ reverence for the concept of the rule of the law. Conservatives’ steadfast commitment to this traditional ideal explains why they are allowing Democrats to flagrantly corrupt our judicial system to destroy their opponents and protect themselves. For all their huffing and puffing, conservatives have effectively taken a “let the system play itself out” attitude while Democrats nakedly politicize that system through their partisan indictments of former President ...

Young student was a great representative

I’d like to express my congratulations to Beverly Elementary School fourth grader, Ethan Reese, on his winning essay for the theme of the 2023 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree: “Endlessly Wild & Wonderful.” What a great honor for this young student to represent his School, Community, County and State at our Nation’s capital and to officially light up “The People’s Tree” on the West Lawn of the of the U.S. Capitol. As former, longtime residents of Elkins, we try to keep up with the news in the area. It was a delight to read the various articles in The Inter-Mountain ...

State economic bill of rights adopted

This past August marked my 50th year as a member of the Elkins community, 35 of which were spent teaching Beverly and Midland elementary students. I loved my job, my students, and the parents. I found over the years and countless interactions with people across the community that we may disagree on some issues, but we agree on many things that affect us all. Recently, the West Virginia Democratic Party adopted the 21st Century Economic Bill of Rights Resolution, modeled after FDR’s Economic Bill of Rights presented during his State of the Union address in 1944. These are ...

Fiscal planning needed

It absolutely sickens me when our government blows through its yearly budget in eight months and then wants to borrow more to keep the government running. They have given hundreds of billions away to countries (Ukraine) that then pocket the money for personal gain. There is no accountability as to where the money actually ends up, and corruption is everywhere. I say no more! We can’t survive as a country by borrowing money to give away, increasing our national debt to a point we cannot ever hope to pay off. It’s time for a balanced budget. If I can do it would it be too ...

Reader has questions

Why did Biden destroy our energy independence? Why did Biden leave billions of dollars worth of equipment in Afghanistan? Why did Biden open our border? How did Fetterman beat Dr. Oz? How did the Biden family, and their three aliases, earn millions from China and Russia? Why does Biden want to take guns from law-abiding citizens? Who is destroying women’s sports? Who created the Bud Light commercial? Was it stupid? Was it Communist money? Did Khrushchev pound his desk and say he would bury America without firing a shot? Are the Communists too smart for the spoiled ...
