Lady Tigers drop pair to Lincoln

ELKINS — Lincoln used two strong pitching performances from Delaney Haller in sweeping a Big 10 Conference doubleheader from Elkins Saturday at Betty Heckel Field.

Haller tossed a complete-game five-hitter in the Lady Cougars’ 9-0 win in the opener and limited the Lady Tigers to just three hits in a 13-1 victory in five innings in the nightcap.

The sophomore fanned 12 in the lidlifter and nine in the second game.

Dacey Arbogast went all seven innings in taking the loss for Elkins in the first game. She gave up nine runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking five.

Baylee Shiflett, Arbogast, Kaitlynn Stone, Hallie Roy and Haley Mahoney accounted for the Lady Tigers’ five hits.

Haller helped her cause with a homer, while Destiny Cunningham drove in a pair.

Lambert had three hits and Cunningham, Alexis Williams and Hannah Ferris all had two RBIs for Lincoln (3-0, 2-0 Big 10) in the second game.

Kylee Cable took the loss for Elkins in four innings of work, allowing 13 runs on 10 hits, fanning two and walking seven.

Stone had a solo homer in the fourth and Mahoney and Roy each doubled during the contest.

Elkins (0-4, 0-4) will remain home at 6 p.m. today to face North Marion for another league matchup.
