Drennen fans 13 as Bulldogs blank Titans
GLENVILLE — Jaxon Drennen struck out 13 and allowed just one hit over six innings as Tygarts Valley claimed a 4-0 win over Gilmer County.
Drennen helped his cause by going 3 for 4 at the plate and driving in two runs.
Ian Harris worked a hitless seventh inning, fanning one.
Kolten Holbert took the loss for the Titans. He gave up four runs (just one earned) on five hits and fanning five in five innings of work.
Tygarts Valley dropped a 7-0 verdict Waterford in its second game of the day.
Drennen and Kaden Moore each had two hits for the Bulldogs in the loss.
Kaleb Wright earned the win, allowing six hits and striking out six over 6 1/3 innings of work.
Jacob Wamsley was tagged with the loss. He went 4 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs — four being earned –on three hits, striking out four.
Corbin Stark had a pair of RBIs for the Wildcats.
Tygarts Valley (5-3) is scheduled to entertain Highland County (Va.) at 6 p.m. today in the home opener.
