ELKINS — Bridgeport advanced to the championship round of the Little League 10-12-year-old state tournament with a 14-3 win over Barboursville Wednesday night at Melvin Heckel Fields at River Bend Park.
Bridgeport, which went undefeated in Mountaineer Division action, will now face the Herd Division runner-up at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
The title game is now set for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Bridgeport took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Barboursville answered with a single run in the home-half of the frame.

After plating another run in the second, Bridgeport opened up the game by plating five runs in each of the third and fourth innings as the game ended after the bottom of the fourth frame due to the mercy rule.
Barboursville will now face the winner of Wednesday’s late game between Central Greenbrier and Logan at 6 p.m. today, with the winner moving on to the championship round as the Mountaineer Division runner-up.
Chapmanville also moved to the championship round on Wednesday night after defeating Jefferson, 8-3, in Herd Division play.
Jefferson will meet the winner of Wednesday night’s late game between Fringe and Winfield at 8:30 p.m.
The winner of that game advances to the championship round as the Herd Division runner-up.
