Bobcats drop verdict to Ohio Dominican

BUCKHANNON — Drew Gallehue threw for 202 yards and a score to lead Ohio Dominican to a 31-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday night at Cebe Ross Field

It was the season opener for the Panthers, who led 24-0 at halftime.

Nathan Webster’s 4-yard run with 10:56 left in the first quarter gave Ohio Dominican an early 7-0 lead.

With 8:23 remaining the opening canto, the Panthers took a 14-0 advantage when Markquan Rucker went in from three yards out.

After Henry Vakericks connected on a 40-yard field goal, the Panthers struck again with 1:13 left in the first half when Gallehue hit Conner Campbell for a 15-yard strike to extend the margin to 24-0 at the break.

Romearo Wells finished the scoring with a 3-yard run with 8:47 showing on the third-quarter clock.

Quinton Pulley and Logan Sanders both saw time at quarterback for the Bobcats.

Pulley connected on 4 of 9 aerials for 23 yards and one interception with 39 yards rushing, while Sanders was 2 of 10 passing for nine yards and one interception.

Connor Castle had two receptions for 17 yards and Zion Mcintosh two catches for 15 yards.

Anthony Battle led the Wesleyan defense with 10 total tackles, including six solo.

Janaris Foster added six solo tackles and assisted on three others.

Sophiste Jorvelus had 1 1/2 sacks.

Gallehue completed 14 of 17 passes on the night.

Wesleyan is now 0-2 on the early season and will remain home at 1 p.m. next Saturday to face West Virginia State in the Mountain East Conference opener.

The Bobcats will then entertain Frostburg State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 for homecoming.
