Second-half goal allows Tigers to earn tie with Hoover

ELKINS — Elkins netted a second-half goal to salvage a 1-1 draw with Herbert Hoover under drizzling conditions Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers (4-0-1) trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Elkins remains home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to face Lincoln for a Big 10 Conference match.

In the girls match between the schools, Herbert Hoover used goals from Emma Hanson, Jenna Brown and Reece Murphy to claim a 3-0 win.

The Lady Tigers host Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for their next match.

Men’s College Soccer

ELKINS — Francisco Lopez Kreik had the lone goal as Davis & Elkins blanked West Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0, Sunday at Nuttall Field.

Charles Phillips had a pair of saves in recording the shutout for the Senators, who held a 7-2 edge on shots on goal.

Matteo Marciani had four saves for the Bobcats (0-1-0 , 0-1-0 MEC).

D&E (1-1-0, 1-0-0) hosts West Liberty at 4 p.m. Wednesday, while Wesleyan visits Frostburg State.
