ELKINS — In its final home game of the regular season, Class AAA, No. 13 Elkins battles Brooke for senior night this evening at Tiger Stadium.
It will be the third-ever meeting between the schools on the gridiron, the first two coming in playoff games in 1980 and 1992 — both Bruin victories.
Elkins (5-3) is out to bounce back from consecutive losses to No. 6 North Marion and No. 3 Fairmont Senior, 26-16, last week at home.
Senior running back Logan Beam had a pair of scores in the setback and needs just 26 yards rushing to go over 1,000 for the season.
Junior Seth Robinson, junior quarterback Nate Sauerwein and sophomore receiver Xavier Workman are other weapons on offense.

Sophomores Elias Jones and Tony Sylvester also figure into the running game.
Brooke, under first-year coach and former Bruin player Frank Sisinni, brings a 3-5 record into the contest and coming off a 35-14 loss at John Marshall.
Senior quarterback Ty Sperringer and junior running backs Cory Maynard and Michael Gibson lead the Brooke offensive attack.
Other games on tap for this evening include Philip Barbour at Lewis County, Buckhannon-Upshur at Lincoln, Pocahontas County at East Hardy and Stonewall Jackson (Va.) at Pendleton County.
Tucker County and Tygarts Valley are idle.

In Weston, the Class AA, fourth-rated Colts (5-2) are back in action after being idle last week.
Philip Barbour’s explosive offense features running back Landyn Carpenter and talented senior receivers Cam Bennett, Malachi Poling and Patrick Webster.
Bennett is also a weapon at quarterback from the “Wildcat” formation.
Quarterback Robbie Jones guides the offense.
The Minutemen (1-6) are out to halt a three-game losing skid and dropped a 41-8 home decision to North Marion last Friday.
Isaac Brown had 41 yards rushing and a score for Lewis County in the loss and Eli Jones completed 6 of 9 passes for 88 yards.
Brown was the top receiver with three catches for 52 yards.
In Shinnston, the Bucs can keep their postseason hopes alive with a win over the Cougars.
B-U (1-6) is coming off a 34-31 loss at East Fairmont and are 18th in this week’s WVSSAC playoff ratings.
Senior quarterback Dawson Tenney rushed for over 120 yards and three scores, while throwing for 125 yards and a TD pass to Chance Morgan.
Jacob Frye had four receptions for 64 yards. Cooper Antolini is another threat at receiver for the Bucs.
The Cougars are 3-4 and have been idle since handing Robert C. Byrd a 35-28 setback two weeks ago as Connor Rice piled up 160 yards rushing and rushed for four touchdowns and A.J. Bart threw for 215 yards and added a score on the ground.
East Hardy and Pendleton County, meanwhile, look to move up in the Class A ratings and remain in the running for home games during the postseason.
The Cougars (4-3) are eighth this week and winners of four straight games.
Pocahontas County enters the contest 1-6.
No. 5 Pendleton County (5-2) will entertain Stonewall Jackson in the 11th all-time meeting between the schools.
The Wildcats defeated the Generals, 54-26, in last year’s meeting and trail the series, 7-3.
