ELKINS — The expectations are high for the Elkins cross country teams heading into Saturday’s Class AAA state meet at Cabell Midland High School in Ona.

The Tigers, first in the runwv.com.com power rankings, won the state title in Class AA last year, led by junior Trevor George, who looks to repeat as individual champion.

Teammates Josh Bodkins and Ben Tenney are also projected to finish among the Top 10.

Bodkins will be competing in the state meet for the fourth straight year.

For the girls, Elkins is third in the power rankings and finished third in last year’s state meet.

Juniors Emilia Tenney and Julia Biola guide the Lady Tigers as both will make their third straight showings in Ona.

Tenney placed third in last year’s state meet, while Biola was sixth.

Senior Delia White is entered in her fourth state meet, earning an at-large berth as a freshman.

The Class AAA boys race is set for 3:45 p.m. Saturday, with the girls taking to the course at 3 p.m.
