Lady Bulldogs pull away late against Webster
Defibaugh burns the nets for 30 points in 41-31 home win
MILL CREEK — Sarah Defibaugh burned the nets for 30 points as Tygarts Valley pulled away from Class A, No. 10 Webster County, 41-31, Wednesday evening at Weber-Wamsley Court.
Defibaugh finished the night with four 3-pointers.
The contest was deadlocked at 17-17 at halftime and the Lady Bulldogs (2-1) held a slim 27-25 lead after three quarters.
They then outscored the Lady Highlanders, 14-6, in the final frame, hitting 5-of-8 free throws with Defibaugh canning three and Allysa Swecker a pair.
Maddie Williams and Elizabeth Case had 12 points each for Webster County, which is now 2-1 and hosts Wirt County on Friday night.
Tygarts Valley remains home at 7 p.m. Friday to battle Elkins.
In the junior varsity contest, the Lady Bulldogs claimed a 41-11 win. Hallie Ellis had 12 points for TV and Jersey Sanson and Kay Kronenburg four apiece for the Lady Highlanders.
