Tucker girls hand Petersburg home setback
PETERSBURG — Three players landed in double figures as Class A, No. 5 Tucker County claimed a 54-43 victory over Petersburg on Tuesday evening.
MaKenna Evans led the way for the Lady Mountain Lions with 15 points, followed by Addi Moats with 13 and Izzy Kitzmiller with 10.
Miley Tingler had 13 points and Sis Cole chipped in 10 for the Lady Vikings, who are now 3-2.
Tucker County led 33-20 at halftime but Petersburg trimmed the lead to 41-33 after three quarters.
The Lady Mountain Lions held a 13-10 scoring advantage in the final frame as Moats hit a key 3-pointer and Evans tallied four points.
Tucker County was 3-for-3 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Vikings will remain home at 7:30 p.m. Friday to face Union.
The Lady Mountain Lions (3-0) will host the Mt. Storm Power Plant Holiday Classic on Friday and Saturday.
They battle Clay County at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Buffalo and Northern Garrett (Md.) square off in Friday’s first contest at 6 p.m.
The consolation game is set for noon on Saturday, followed by the championship tilt.
