MARTINSBURG — The Petersburg girls limited Spring Mills to just seven second-half points to cruise to a 62-21 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Vikings led 14-7 after one quarter and carried a 32-14 advantage into halftime.

They then outscored the Lady Cardinals, 21-4, in the third to open up a 53-18 lead entering the final quarter.

Miley Tingler bucketed 15 points to lead Petersburg, which had nine players reach the scoring column.

Shyane Tawney also reached double figures in the win with 10 points on the day.

Ayden Mayfield chipped in eight points, Sis Cole six points and Ryleigh Hall and Karlie DiBenedetto five points each.

Sophomore Remiyah Jones hit a pair of 3-pointers in netting eight points to pace Spring Mills in the setback.

The Lady Vikings improved to 11-6 and will host Class AA, Region II foe South Harrison at 7 p.m. today for a varsity-only contest.

Petersburg will then visit Class A, No. 6 Tucker County on Thursday night.

Spring Mills is also in action today, hosting Washington.
