WVU players to receive NFL opportunities

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football went this year’s NFL Draft without a player from the 2025 team selected by a team in the league. There were former players selected, like Akheem Mesidor, who was picked in the first round by the Los Angeles Chargers. The Mountaineers ended their streak of having players drafted, but they weren’t the only Power Four team to not have a player selected in one of the seven rounds. WVU was one of 10 schools, which included Colorado and Oklahoma State from the Big 12, and local schools Virginia and Virginia Tech, to not have a draft pick. But ...

In Game 3 of the series Sunday afternoon, in a rubber match, WVU blew a 5-2 lead in the eighth inning, losing 7-5 to Cincinnati, falling in its second series of the season. WVU needed a big bounce-back series this weekend, after being blasted in the Backyard Brawl on Tuesday by Pitt. The tide looked turned after ...

Steelers use 7 of 10 draft picks on offense

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers still don’t know if quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return for his 22nd season in 2026. If the 42-year-old decides to play, the four-time MVP will lead a team filled with fresh faces on offense. Pittsburgh used seven of its 10 picks in the NFL draft on that side of the ball, starting with offensive tackle Max Iheanachor in the first round and ending it with Navy wide receiver/running back (and Pittsburgh native) Eli Heidenreich in the seventh. “That’s how the draft sorted itself out,” general manager Omar Khan said. “We trusted ...
