With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Francis G. “Frank” Koenig, who peacefully passed away at home on Aug. 1, 2026, with his loving wife, JoAnn, by his side.

Born on Aug. 29, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Frank lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work and unwavering love for his family. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Long Beach State College in California, and the University of Minnesota, where he earned his degree in forestry.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to April 1970. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the United States Forest Service.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Frank was an active and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. His commitment to the organization led him to serve in numerous leadership roles, including state advocate, state membership director, state secretary and state deputy. He also received the honor of being named Knight of the Year in 2016.

On June 2, 1973, Frank married the love of his life, JoAnn Brunswick, and together they built a life centered on faith, family and love. They treasured traveling together, especially family beach vacations, where some of their happiest memories were made surrounded by their children and grandchildren.

Frank was a proud father to Jodie, Cathy and Melissa. His greatest joy was being âPapaã to his beloved grandchildren, Nichole Marie, Cobe Gilland, Liliane Jo Ann and Miles Francis. Papa loved every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, whether it was watching them play sports, sharing stories, or simply enjoying being together.
